COPE is grounded in the belief that our stress responses are not flaws — they are adaptations. Trauma, loss, and everyday stress shape how we respond to the world. Sometimes those responses help us. Sometimes they exhaust us.
Through education and creative practice, participants begin to understand their triggers not as weaknesses, but as normal human reactions to lived experience.
When we stop shaming ourselves, space opens.
Space to choose differently.
Space to respond instead of react.
Space to care for ourselves in creative and sustainable ways.
COPE helps participants recognize that they already carry the innate ability to cope. Through art-making and reflection, they learn how to manage their stress response with greater awareness, compassion, and intention.
COPE workshops are designed for adults and teens (15+) who want to better understand and manage the stressors in their lives. The program is ideal for everyday individuals — no diagnosis required and no artistic background necessary — simply an openness to learning and exploring creativity as a tool for growth and meaningful change.
I am a passionate artist, art therapist, and educator dedicated to helping people develop healthy coping skills within a supportive and encouraging environment that honors each individual’s unique ways of self-expression and self-care. With over 20 years' experience working with individuals of all ages and skill abilities from infants to older folks - I have served in settings including an early child-care center, K-12 public schools, nursing care facilities, residential mental health treatment facility, and an art center. COPE is the integration of my clinical training, educational background, and lived experience — created to make trauma-informed wellness education accessible to the broader community.
